CAT 2013 Notification, Paper Pattern, Syllabus & Important Dates

Common Admission Test(CAT) is a computer based national level examination organized by IIMs(Indian Institute of Management) which helps candidates to get admission in various top management colleges such as IIM’s, MDI, etc. all over India. The computer based exam is conducted by a different IIM every time based on the rotation policy. The online written exam consists of questions from topics viz. Verbal Ability, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. On the basis of scores and percentile obtained in the written exam, candidates are called for interviews & Group Discussion by different institutes and final selection is based on your performance in the interview.

CAT 2013 Important Dates – Exam Dates & Registrations:

Availability of Vouchers: August 5, 2013 – Sep 24, 2013
Registration Window: August 5, 2013 – Sep 26, 2013
CAT 2013 Exam Dates: Oct 16, 2013 – Nov 11, 2013
Results will be declared on 14.01.2013.

How to Register for CAT 2013:

Purchase the scratch voucher from selected branches of Axis Bank and register on the official website of CAT i.e. www.catiim.in.

CAT 2013 Paper/Exam Pattern:

The paper of CAT consists of questions from topics such as Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. The total time of computer based test is 2 hours and 20 minutes. There is also a 15-minute tutorial time before the exam. There are 60 objective type questions(divided into two sections) in total to test your skills in the four sections mentioned above. Students will get 70 minutes to answer 30 questions within each section managed by an on-screen countdown timer. The 1st section is Quantitative Ability and Date Interpretation and the 2nd section is Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning.

CAT 2013 Syllabus:

1) CAT English/Verbal Ability Syllabus: Verbal reasoning, Reading comprehension, syllogisms, analogies, synonyms & antonyms, idioms, fill in the blanks, sentence correction, etc.

2) CAT Quantitative Ability/Mathematics Syllabus: Number systems, Mensuration, Algebra, Geometry, trigonometry, probability, permutation and combination, time & work, Profit & Loss, averages, Sets, percentages, quadratic & linear equations, etc.

3) CAT Data Interpretation Syllabus: Data Interpretation & analysis, Graphs, tables, charts, Venn diagram, etc.

4) CAT Logical Reasoning Syllabus: Blood Relationships, Clocks, Binary Logic, calendars, seating arrangement, logical sequence, Premise, Circular arrangement, assumption, conclusion, linear & matrix arrangement, etc.
